18 Advent Calendars to Look at Right Now

An advent calendar is a special holiday countdown to the 25th day of December - it’s derived from the Latin word “adventus” which means “coming.” Traditional advent stands for the four Sundays prior to Christmas - on each Sunday, one candle on the advent wreath is lit - the candles symbolize hope, love, joy and peace.

Advent calendars used to be filled with simple sweets or chocolate or sometimes Biblical images or verses - one per day of a sweet or a thought as you counted down to Christmas. But now, just about anything can be swept into an advent countdown theme from mini rubber ducks (it’s a good one, scroll to the end) to beauty products to top notch teas, family games and…even socks.
